Nintendo – back with a vengeance

With the creation of the Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox series, Sony and Microsoft have managed to overthrow the once leading name in video gaming – Nintendo. Although many had considered Nintendo upstaged by the arrival of new technology in the form of Sony and Microsoft, it now seems as though they were merely taking the backseat, leaving the two would-be giants to battle it out amongst themselves, only to develop a better video-gaming console that was sure to bring them back to the top of the video gaming food chain in no time. Sure it took them some time, but now we know that it was worth every second.

The arrival of the Nintendo Wii console has definitely opened channels to the development of virtual reality video gaming. With the creation of a gaming console being powered by a motion sensor based controller, Nintendo has gone out and proven that it is not impossible to create games in virtual reality, something that in the past was merely brushed off as a thing of science fiction movies.

Taken from the word WE, the Nintendo Wii console is said to be built for everyone, meaning it provides channels for different people to play interactively with each other. The console also has a personalized feel about it. Why, just by switching it on, it will prompt you to personalize it by providing it with a gaming ID which will allow you to save your games and be identified online. Yes, you got that right, Nintendo Wii console allows you to access the internet and that is regardless if it is on or off.

Aside from being able to play with multiple people, the Nintendo Wii console allows you to be one with the machine. You are not only connected to the video gaming console through a controller, because you control all the movements in each game. It makes playing video games seem oh-so-natural, because your movements is what is reflected on the screen. If you are playing tennis, you would need to swing just like you would on a real tennis game. The reality of the movements you need to make, makes the game more real to the player than any of the previous video-gaming consoles could ever achieve. This creates a real connection between the player and the game itself, which I guess is the gaming programmers dream come true.

At times, we cannot help but reminisce about the old video games such as Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog, which were not as intricately programmed nor visually stimulating as the games that have appeared nowadays, Nonetheless, they have left a mark on us, which cause us to crave for them even after all these years. The good news for all those nostalgic gamers like me is that the Nintendo Wii console allows you to download these old games that were originally made for Nintendo 64, Sega and NES and play them in a brand new high technology console. Just imagine playing the classic favorites such as Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy using the Nintendo Wii console. It’s sure to heighten the memories of these games, not to mention the fact that you will be able to share these games to the new generation of gamers and see them enjoy these once famous games we were so crazy about before.
